Thank You Sir! May I have another!

Well, day after day. Another very positive review of 'Heavy Soul' was published today. Written by Essa Linna at The Extraordinary Movie & Video Guide.

"In these days when virtually everyone has a chance to make a film (which itself is a great thing), it's easy to point out where the talent is. Right now I point out Oren Shai."

To the full review!

Also note that a day was scheduled for the Brooklyn International Film Festival screening: June 8 at The Brooklyn Museum.

In other news - This weekend The Woggles performed in NY and delivered what could only be described as a Rock 'n' Roll sermon. With them played Muck and the Mires, one of my favorite new garage bands and the NY based, Baby Shakes. All more than deserving, give them a listen!

Film Threat reviews 'Heavy Soul'

Film Threat has posted a review of 'Heavy Soul' today. 4 Stars.

"The screaming immediacy of “Heavy Soul” characterizes who Oren Shai will continue to be as a filmmaker. When he gets people watching, he never wants to let go until they’re exhausted right after it’s over, piecing it all together and undoubtedly wanting more. He’s got it. I don’t think the ‘50s have ever been quite this extreme in any film and this is some trip."

Stomp! Shout! Scream!

The "Stomp! Shout! Scream!" DVD arrived in the mail today. After watching the clips on the Official Site I couldn't wait to watch it, the expectation paid off. Directed by Jay Wade Edwards (one of the minds behind Aqua Teen Hunger Force), "Stomp! Shout! Scream!" is a Garage-Beach-Monster-Movie. One of the only genre feature films I've seen recently that pay a respectful homage to the original films and still take themselves seriousley without indluging in their camp-value - which usually creates the exact opposite of what they attempt, there is nothing worse than "camp" that's not entertaining. But again, this is not the case. "Stomp! Shout! Scream!" is funny, looks great and features excellent actors (a very lovely Claire Bronson in particular).

The soundtrack features original songs by Catfight! (check out their Myspace page for more great songs) and songs by possibly the best Garage band playing today, The Woggles.

I urge any fans of the Beach-Party or Beach-Monster films out there to purchase a copy of this film - supporte the arts!

In other news...

* The Pipettes posted two new songs to their Myspace profile- "We Are The Pipettes" and "Pull Shapes". Two great additions by one of today's greatest Girl-Groups. Also watch them live on YouTube.

* Another new band to check out is Vanessa and the O's. Superb French-Pop.

Rogue Cinema Loves 'Heavy Soul'. Movie Chick Cherryl Hates It!

A new 'Heavy Soul' review was posted at Rogue Cinema today. Here's an excerpt:

"The creativity and talent he displayed in this fourteen minute short film would carry well over into full length features, and I know we'll be hearing a lot more about this particular film maker in the future."

Yesterday, The Movie Chicks website posted their reviews of SXSW Shorts - What did they think of 'Heavy Soul'? Well...

"It’s silly and pointless and almost works because of the satiric nature, but it tries too hard to be edgy and spoils the fun"

You Decide!

Also, if you are in the New York area - Do not forget to show up tonight to the screening at The Brooklyn Independent Cinema Series - For more details...
