And yet more 'Heavy Soul' Reviews from SXSW.
Not sure if these were just recentley posted online but I found them today.
From The Austin Daze:
Next up was an odd little ditty called, “Heavy Soul”, a real 50ish piece, where a young, pure, teenage girl is lured into a world of twisted morals and decay by her attraction to a very charismatic, but disturbed popular boy at school whose world is filled with beatniks, sideburns, cigarettes, beer, and drinking blood! Soon enough our heroine falls prey and her life is reduced to a shadow of her former self. Very stylized, a light hearted romp nonetheless that was nothing short of deranged fun.
From Hybridmagazine.com:
"Heavy Soul opens with a Fantasia-like sound-imaging and then proceeds paint a picture of a blood junkie, layering in religion and sex against creepy voiceover. In B&W mixed with color."

Look on Up at the Bottom
Exciting news today. FOX is finally releasing Russ Meyer's "Beyond the Valley of the Dolls" on DVD and it's a double-disc special edition!
Last month John Waters held his (excellent) one-man show, 'This Filthy World' in NY. When I asked about his relationship with Meyer he noted the 'Beyond...' may be the best film ever made (and may be the worst). Well... it must be the best movie ever made, and even if not, it is still my personal favorite.

Cinema-Crazed Reviews 'Heavy Soul'
Back from Viva Las Vegas with some updates:
A new review of 'Heavy Soul' was posted on Cinema-Crazed, check it out:
http://www.cinema-crazed.com/heavy-soul.htm
To quote:
"'Heavy Soul' is a sometimes dark, sometimes campy, and sometimes utterly weird film... in all its weirdness feels immensely genuine as if it'd jumped out of the fifties era and hardly ever looks like a true indie."
Also just found out Pulpmovies.com posted a link to one of the 'Heavy Soul' video clips on its Blog
And in unrelated news - just got the new Rockin Ryan and the Real Goners release 'Cry of Midnight' and I urge you all to order this great album from Golly Gee Records.

New Look, New Article, New Interview
Uploaded a radio interview that Jennifer Nathan of The Roundtable (WAMC) conducted with me during SXSW. An MP3 is available Here.
Yediot America, an Israeli-American newspaper, published an article about me on Friday. Will have scans of the article (in Hebrew) on-line by next week.
The site went through some cosmetical changes, I apologize if anyone had problems browsing while this was happening.
