La Laque & Pas/Cal

La Laque and Pas/Cal recently celebrated the release of their split 12" single. I have been singing La Laque's praises for months and months and Pas/Cal, which I have been introduced to only recently, are a great one as well.

Both songs form the split single are available for listening on Romantic-Air Records:

La Laque - Secrets

Pac/Cal - Summe Is Almost Here

The Independent Music Video Festival

This year's IMVF just updated their website with this year's video selections. 'Baby in the Rain' will be featured next to some of the best new independent videos (Including one, by the mighty-cool Guitar Wolf).

If you happen to pass by Vancouver September 7 & 9, check it out.

The Pipettes

A little while ago, while browsing through Revolution In My Head (a fine music blog referred to me by my good friend, Gabi), I found a link to this great band's website. The Pipettes are probably the best updated version of a 60's girl band. Today.

They are a must listen.

Dirty Diamonds

I walked in to Virgin Megastore the other day to see if the new Alice Cooper album was on the top shelf of the 'New Releases' section. Not only wasn't it there but it was nowhere to be found in the area whatsoever. As always, no respect.

"This is Credible Alice, finally aware that he has a legacy to protect" says Mojo Magazine.

'Dirty Diamonds' deserves way more attention than it is bound to get. Alice should have another run at the top. Because as far as they go, Alice is, the top. You could listen to 4 songs from the new album on Alice's Myspace Page.

I celebration of this album, here is a song for download. From the second Alice Cooper album, Easy Action (1970), released on Frank Zappa's record label.

'Big Bosoms and Square Jaws'

I promised myself not to pick up any new books before I finish the stack of Nick Tosches novels and biographies I had piled here but when I walked by the new Russ Meyer biography, 'Big Bosoms and Square Jaws' by Jimmy McDonough, I couldn't resist myself.

I learned more about filmmaking from watching Meyer films than from all of the film classes I took combined. Last night, after an intense read, the book was done.

I urge any one contemplating to pick up this book. Meyer led a unique life and influenced film, photography and modern culture more than the mainstream media would like to acknowledge. It's an important documentation of an original who is truly one of a kind.

Baby in the Rain to screen in Canada.

It has come to my attention that the last time I updated the blog was in June.

Hopefully, I will be able to keep a healthier schedule with more update from now on.

Our music video for Shy Nobleman's 'Baby in the Rain' has been selected to screen at the upcoming Independent Music Video Festival this September. Of which we are very excited. The official release date of the video has been delayed recently but the second it is, you will know where to find it.

The upcoming release by Shy will be the song '2 Can Be Better Than 1', a sure hit. Check for updates.
